Dan Whalen became Kiawah Island Real Estate’s President in January 2020. With a deep and varied background in luxury, residential and commercial real estate, Dan has been in a senior leadership role almost his entire real estate career. Born in New York and raised in North Carolina, Dan first visited Kiawah Island for the 1991 Ryder Cup and it has been a lifelong goal of his to return to the Island professionally.
Dan entered the real estate industry in 1997 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Governors Club Development Corporation in Chapel Hill, NC. In 2000, he joined Bluegreen Corporation where he and his sales team set multiple company-wide sales records for the 30-year-old company. At Bluegreen, Dan was named Sales Manager of the Year in 2000, 2001, and 2002.
