Kiawah Island Club Members continue to celebrate the opening of The Cape Club. Introduced in April 2025, this luxury amenity features an oceanfront infinity pool with chaise longues and cabanas, an expansive sundeck, and a Latin-inspired restaurant led by Kiawah Island Club Chef Nico Quintero and Culinary Advisor Chef Mike Lata.  

The Vision Behind The Cape Club’s Design 

“The Cape Club is a dream realized,” says Clubhouse Manager Leslie Bunnell. “It was incredible to watch this project take shape. We’ve had such an amazing team of visionaries–from [Mike] Lata and [Nico] Quintero concepting the culinary side to award-winning Cortney Bishop Design and Kennon Williams Landscape Studio creating such an enchanting setting.” 

According to Bunnel, who has had much experience managing different clubhouses within the Island, The Cape Club strikes an earthy middle ground between Marsh House and The Beach Club. The Cape Club borrows the serenity of the private Marsh House and pairs it with the lively energy of the family-favorite Beach Club, creating a social but refined setting.  

Thoughtful Design Blends with Kiawah’s Coastal Landscape

The Cape Club is intentionally integrated into Kiawah’s natural coastal landscape. Everything is open-air, including the porch and bar that seamlessly flow into the pool deck, crafting a space that feels like you are floating above the dunes. 

The thoughtful design ensured consideration of the vibrant sunsets and the cool maritime breezes that overlook the expansive deck, which opens to the shimmering Atlantic.

A ribbon boardwalk connects the pool deck to the beach, allowing Members to move easily between the two. The Cape Club amenities include:

Culinary Excellence: Elevated Latin-Inspired Fare

The Cape Club’s menu reflects an elevated take on traditional Central and South American flavors and preparation. And like so many of Chef Mike Lata’s renowned restaurants, including FIG and The Ordinary, “The menu at The Cape Club reflects the attention to detail throughout the property–luxurious in its simplicity.”

Also, Chef Nico Quintero is bringing both authenticity and refinement to the menu: 

“I grew up in Colombia and then in the San Francisco area. The dishes from my childhood were defined by big, bold flavors–very homey. In my career, I’ve learned how to balance and refine all these influences for very clean dishes. There’s going to be a lot of cilantro, avocado, and smoked chilies. I’ve always enjoyed the smokiness of aquachiles and love cooking with ancho chiles, cumin, and coriander. It’s all the flavors I grew up with, and they translate well through multiple cuisines.”  

With an emphasis on fresh, local seafood, Quintero and Lata’s culinary vision ensures The Cape Club is more than a luxurious amenity. It is a destination dining experience.
