Our Team Dale Mercer

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Dale first discovered Kiawah Island during a college golf tournament. It was love at first sight.

After graduating, Dale moved to Kiawah and earned a spot as golf professional for the Kiawah Island Golf Resort under the tutelage of its legendary director of golf, Tommy Cuthbert. During that time he watched Pete and Alice Dye build the Ocean Course, played golf with Don Johnson, and spent time with Fred Couples, Ray Floyd, and Lanny Wadkins as they prepared for the 1991 Ryder Cup.

As a PGA golf professional who served as head pro at Cassique, Dale has witnessed golf’s best players – from the celebrated “War by the Shore” 1991 Ryder Cup and the UBS Cup to the USGA Mid-Amateur and the 2012 PGA Championship—bring their “A games” to Kiawah.

“After 20 years of living, playing, and working on the Island, the transition to Kiawah Island Real Estate has been very natural,” he says. “I feel fortunate to be a member of this first-class sales organization and enjoy meeting and helping people discover everything Kiawah has to offer. The Island has many layers; it’s unlike any other place. To really experience it, you need the guidance of those who know and love Kiawah.”

Dale lives in Charleston with his three boys. He spends his free time golfing, playing racquet sports, and paddle boarding on the Island.
