Summertime, and the livin’ is easy. But that doesn’t mean it’s lazy. While relaxation is always welcome on calm and tranquil Kiawah Island, you can welcome a new season with fun and healthy activities this Memorial Day Weekend. Take a look at how to enjoy an active holiday weekend below.

Explore wildlife

Get in touch with the landscape of the Lowcountry when you see flora and fauna in their natural habitat. The Kiawah Island Nature Program is your gateway to the wild world right outside your door. Take a tour of the island with our on-staff naturalists, who can point out species native to both land and sea. Learn about local birds and alligators on specialized tours. Finally, a night beach walk is a memorable way to spend the evening: you’ll learn about nocturnal marine life like sea turtles and bioluminescent algae.

Go for a swim

Between tidal creeks, the Atlantic Ocean, salt marshes, and the Kiawah River, you’re truly surrounded with pristine water in any direction you choose. Go for a swim in the ocean, or maybe swim a few laps in one of our many meticulously maintained pools. Or, experience the island from a kayak: Kiawah Island Club Members enjoy private access to a kayak dock in Cassique, and the Kiawah Community Association maintains a launch and storage at Cinder Creek and Rhett’s Bluff.. The island also offers unparalleled access to deep sea fishing excursions — there’s a full marina just outside the gate.

Improve your game, then hit the links

Golf is a notoriously difficult sport, but our state-of-the-art facility is available to members to help equip them with the skills and knowledge to take their game to the next level. Read all about our Golf Learning Center to see which offerings are best suited to your needs. Then, tee off at one of our five lush and verdant courses, all boasting sea breezes and year-round access.

Game, set, match

Trade golf for tennis at one of the country’s top-ranked tennis courts. The Roy Barth Tennis Center is an ideal place to kick off Memorial Day Weekend. Play a friendly round of tennis amid a resort-style setting appropriate for all skill levels.

Eat fresh

After so much activity, you’ll be more than ready for a meal. Of course, our dining offers elegant, curated options — we’ve even partnered with a James Beard Award-winning chef. Nourish your body after a day well spent outside, or cook a meal at home after browsing the Johns Island Farmers Market.

Stop by and say hello

Don’t let your visit to Kiawah Island be just a one-time trip. Visit one of our sales offices located across the Island to see how you can make your future vacation a staycation.
