Kiawah Island Labor Day Weekend Itinerary

On Kiawah Island, your Labor Day Weekend itinerary means live music, nature walks, spirit tastings, an arts show, and more. This weekend signifies the end of summer for many, but as the start of the temperate (but still beach-worthy!) days of September on Kiawah Island, this weekend is the start to another season of fun.

We’ve mapped out an itinerary to take you from Thursday through Monday below. And if you have a little downtime, why not use it to look for the perfect coastal home? Check out all of our featured listings here.

Kiawah Island Labor Day Weekend Itinerary

Start the long weekend a little early with live music and a glass of wine. On Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m., guitarist and songwriter Chris Dodson performs an acoustic set amid Fortyeight wine bar’s intimate setting. The restaurant’s name comes from its selection: choose from a rotating cast of 48 wines and 48 craft beers every single day!

  • What: Live music and wine
  • When: Thursday, Aug. 31, 6:30 p.m.
  • Where: Fortyeight Wine Bar

Spend some time with nature on Friday, whether at an amateur birding class, nighttime beach stroll, or on a “gator walk.” In addition to stunning properties and incredible dining and entertainment, Kiawah Island is also home to natural wonders — vast marshlands, a pristine coastline along the Atlantic, and plenty of wildlife.  That’s why Kiawah Recreation has organized a variety of nature-oriented events. Learn the birding basics at a dedicated class to kickstart a new hobby, or go on a gator walk with a naturalist to experience these ancient creatures in their natural environment. One of our favorite offerings is the nighttime beach walk — a naturalist will be your guide as you stroll along the oceanfront learning all about species like loggerhead turtles, owls, and alligators.
