Spend a Day at the Freshfields Village Shops

Located at the entrance to Kiawah Island, Freshfields Village has grown into a community hub. Everyone from year-round residents and off-Island locals to vacationers can enjoy the charm of a bustling neighborhood market, a multitude of dining options, and shopping.

As Kiawah residents know, the Village’s architecture draws on the Carolinas’ rich coastal heritage, appearing to have arisen over time as a collection of charming structures. Here, you will find large luxury retailers such as Lululemon and Lily Pullitzer, along with local boutiques that reflect the Island’s Southern lifestyle.

With everything you could ever need, here’s how to spend a day at Freshfields Village with ideas on where to shop, dine, and what to do.

Find a New Outfit

Las Olas at Freshfield Village shops is a great place to find swimwear for when you are planning to lay out at one of Kiawah’s many pools. Next, you will want to head over to Tres Carmen, which offers a variety of trendy resort wear pieces you can show off  by the water. For a night out, be sure to stop at Leggiadro. This high-end boutique with locations in NYC, Beverly Hills, and Palm Beach, has a beautiful selection of everyday Island wear. What sets this shop apart are its hand-selected fabrics made from the finest mills in France, Italy, and Switzerland.

Once you have chosen your outfit, pick out some accessories to complete your entire look. Handmade jewelry from Peyton William is perfect for adding a touch of coastal elegance to reflect what life is like on Kiawah. Add a pair of wedges from Coastal Footwear that will not only look fashionable, but are appropriate for the pool or beach as well — a must for Kiawah!

If you are looking for menswear, check out Southern Tide for preppy, Southern style pieces. Here you will find stylish polos, chinos, and stylish shorts that are perfect for a day out on the golf course. Southern Tide also carries fun kids clothing for your little ones, too.

Buy a Gift

Freshfields Village shops have excellent options if you are looking for a gift to give. One of the newest additions to the Freshfields Village shops, Doin’ the Charleston, offers fun gifts with tons of personality. The next time you are attending a gathering, stop in and pick up a unique gift for the hostess.

Another great gift option is a handmade candle from Palmetto Scent Studio. All candles are poured on site, and you can even create your own custom-scent so the recipient will always think of you. While you are out shopping, don’t forget your pet! Dolittle’s pet boutique has a little something for your pet, too.

Decorate Your Home

Those with a love for coastal-inspired interior design will also want to check out the Village. Furnish your home with the beautiful furniture and decor selections at GDC Home. They have several design consultants on hand to help you choose pieces that will look perfect in your luxury coastal home. If you are building a home or looking to add personal touches to a newly purchased home, you can find lighting fixtures, rugs, and luxurious bedding to warm up your space to incorporate your personal style.

Fans of art can purchase a local piece from Patricia Reno Gallery & Art Studio to use as home decor. Hang an original piece that reflects the natural beauty outside your home as a reminder of why Kiawah is an incredible place to live

Dine in the Village

Depending on what you are in the mood for, Freshfields Village shops and restaurants are a great spot to grab a bite after a fun day of Island activities

The fresh Mexican food at Cantina 76 is a delicious local favorite. For a date night, you have a couple dining options to choose from. Start off the night with a glass (or two) of wine from FortyEight Wine Bar & Kitchen, a popular location in Freshfields Village. From there, try Hege’s decadent, yet casual, French cuisine for a wonderful meal to end the evening.

On the other hand, if you want a fun night out you can head to King Street Grille, the area’s best sports bar that’s perfect for watching golf tournaments — like the upcoming 2021 PGA Tournament that will be held at the nearby Ocean Course. Or, bring home some fantastic takeout from La Tela Pizzeria where you can try seasonal Italian dishes.

Get Pampered

Freshfields Village isn’t just a place for shopping and dining, there are also high-end health and beauty establishments.

For example, you can take a fitness class at Studio 33. This high-end fitness studio offers yoga, pilates, and barre classes for an excellent workout to support your wellness journey. Afterward, head over to Indigo Health and receive a chiropractor session to feel a sense of much needed relief from life’s daily stresses.

To boost your skincare routine, try some new luxury cosmetic and skincare products from Bluemercury, where you can shop brands like Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, and Dr. Barbara Sturm. Make an appointment at Urban Nirvana salon for a fresh new cut or hair color. Their expert stylists also offer services like extensions and keratin treatments for a gorgeous head of hair.
