Club Events

Turkey Trot

With Kiawah Island Club’s robust social calendar, Members never find themselves short on activities. Member Mingles are a regular occurrence, always paired with light fare and cocktails for attendees to enjoy. Fitness enthusiasts gather for yoga, water aerobics, and other group water sports. Golfers participate in weekly play events with the Women’s Pelican and the Men’s Gator, while weekly clinics focus on skills like the Wedge and Driver clinics. Members can engage in competition and festivities during annual Club tournaments. Whatever the interest, there is a community for it on Kiawah Island.

Some notable Club events include:

  • Rock the River: Every Thanksgiving weekend, Members are invited to this annual premier concert event on the 18th fairway of River Course to enjoy libations, delicious fare, and rock out to internationally acclaimed GRAMMY-winning artists like Darius Rucker, Lionel Richie, and Sheryl Crow.
  • Red, White, and Boom: On July 3rd, experience the ultimate Independence Day bash. This Member-favorite event features fireworks, live music, holiday-themed festivities, and Lowcountry cuisine favorites. Activities are geared towards the whole family with a rock-climbing wall, carnival games, face painting, and more!
  • Bayou Bash: River Course hosts a Fat Tuesday event that invites Members to experience the flavors of New Orleans. This exhilarating adults-only celebration includes a Mardi Gras-themed Lowcountry boil, oyster roast, live jazz music, and Louisiana vibes that bring the spirit of the bayou to life. 
  • Easter Week: Easter Week presents a full lineup of activities with something for everyone. Festivities include an Easter Carnival and Egg Hunt, Family Bingo, a Fishing Tournament, a Family Footgolf Social, and Junior Golf and Tennis Clinics. On Easter Sunday, the Club venues offer a variety of dining experiences from a tantalizing brunch buffet at River Course to a delicious family-style coursed meal at Cassique.
  • Thanksgiving Weekend: Thanksgiving week at the Club presents many opportunities for Members to celebrate the holiday with their loved ones, including traditional and festive favorites like the annual Turkey Trot, glow-in-the-dark Glow Golf, Sporting Clays tournament, Champagne Shopping, and Rock the River. 
  • New Year’s Eve Bash: Members flock to River Course to ring in the New Year at this annual adults-only soiree with live music and entertainment, light hors d’oeuvres, party favors, and a New Year’s countdown leading up to a dazzling midnight fireworks show.

Other Events Throughout the Year

Bayou Bash

Members’ calendars are filled with other exciting and engaging events throughout the year. Quarterly Member Mingles aim to introduce the newest Members to the Club community. The Behind the Line series hosts hands-on cooking classes for the cooks in the family, and Family Bingo Nights bring together parents and children for exciting gaming and camaraderie. 

Sports and Wellness

Kiawah Island is a vibrant community where connection and well-being thrive, as much as it is a place to enjoy invigorating sports. The Island’s communities are filled with unique sporting and wellness activities for our Members that often help build smaller micro-communities based on similar interests. 

Golf

No matter the time of year, golf on Kiawah Island is always a favorable experience. The two Member-only courses, Cassique and River Course, offer serene nature views, expertly manicured greens, and a sense of history as the Island is a two-time host of the PGA Championship, which is returning again in 2031!

Whether a golf aficionado or a novice seeking enjoyment, there is a golf community for everyone on Kiawah Island. Regular couples tournaments and other events foster camaraderie among golf enthusiasts.

Racquet Sports

The racquet sports community on Kiawah Island is abundant and diverse, featuring year-round tennis programs on professional-grade courts. Members and their families enjoy daily clinics, private instruction, and friendly competitions. The two red clay tennis courts at the River Course clubhouse and four terraced Har-Tru courts at The Sports Pavilion provide ideal conditions for excellent rallies. Monthly tennis socials include special events like the Breakfast at Wimbledon, the U.S. Open Interclub Matches, and Spring and Fall Tennis Weekends.

For those not inclined towards tennis, pickleball offers another excellent community-building option. As the fastest-growing sport in the country, this racquet game accommodates both singles and doubles. Additionally, Members have the opportunity to participate in fast-paced squash as an alternative to tennis, with dedicated players competing against one another in both competitive and friendly environments at The Sports Pavilion.

The Sporting Club

The Sporting Club offers first-time shooters and master marksmen fun and safe outdoor shooting. The facility hosts a community of men, women, and children, all with a passion for various shooting activities, such as sporting clay, skeet, and five-stand shooting, along with a 10-station 3-D archery course. The Sporting Club also hosts Member events like Ladies’ Days, bourbon tastings, and various yearly tournaments.

GoKiawah

The Club’s GoKiawah initiative brings families together for various exciting activities on the Island and off. Innovative programming connects Members with similar passions and interests, such as kayak tours, cocktail cruises, and Charleston trips. The GoKiawah team strives to fill Members’ calendars with excursions, concerts, and culinary programs, ensuring a vibrant community atmosphere along with a diverse array of activities.
