Family Friendly Activities Happening This Fall on and around Kiawah Island

Autumn brings cool breezes and plenty of seasonal activities to Kiawah Island. From harvest festivals to haunted houses, there’s something every family can enjoy this fall!

If you’re planning to visit Kiawah Island this season, here are 13 autumn activities for you and your family to attend on and around the Island.

Fall Festivals

Dogtoberfest

Stay right here on the Island to attend one of our favorite fall festivals — Dogtoberfest! Hosted by Kiawah Cares, Dogtoberfest is the perfect combination of pets, food, vendors and adult beverages.

This year’s event is on Saturday, October 26th from 1 to 5 p.m. at Freshfields Village. So grab your family (including your dog!), and celebrate fall by supporting Kiawah Island’s local pet rescue organizations.

Harvest Festival

Hop on over to Johns Island on November 2nd for the annual Harvest Festival for an all-around southern experience. From bluegrass music and barbecue, to archery and hayrides, this event redefines your typical fall festival.

Get ahead on your holiday shopping, too! Local vendors will be on-site at the crafters market, giving you the perfect opportunity to gift someone you love with a little piece of Kiawah Island.

Fall Festival

Ready for even more autumn activities? Take your family to Night Heron Park on November 28th for Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s annual Fall Festival

This complimentary event takes place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and offers live music, lawn games, pumpkin bowling and more. This will be one of the last fall activities on the Island before the holidays, so stop by with your family for a final autumn celebration!

Pumpkin Picking

Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch

Looking for a fun family excursion off the Island? The Boone Hall Plantation has plenty of other fun autumn activities — like their annual Pumpkin Patch!

The entire month of October, your family can enjoy corn mazes, petting zoos, hayrides and of course, pumpkin picking. Kids, parents — and even grandparents — are sure to enjoy all of the activities the Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch has to offer.

Legare Farms Pumpkin Patch

Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in October, take your family to Legare Farms for late-night pumpkin picking — and don’t forget to bring flashlights!

Legare Farms has plenty of fall-themed activities for families, such as a Nature Quest, Hayride, Scarecrow Factory, Duck Races and more. Admission prices vary, and various family packages are available, so be sure to purchase your tickets in advance.

Food & Drinks

Freshfields Village Sip & Stroll

Enjoy an evening at Freshfields Village sipping wine and strolling through the various shops. Visit participating stores and restaurants during the Fall Sip & Stroll for special in-store events, sales and promotions along with sips and light snacks. The monthly event will take place September 19th, October 17th, November 21st and December 19th from 4 to 7 p.m.

Arts & Crafts

The Turtle’s Nest Art Studio

We suggest taking the family to The Turtle’s Nest Art Studio for a day filled with incredible arts and crafts. The Turtle’s Nest offers projects such as jewelry making, pottery, canvas painting and mosaics.

This fall, The Turtle’s Nest is adding a new craft to their extensive list of activities — candle making! Mix your own autumn-inspired scent and choose a container to perfectly compliment your Kiawah Island beach home.

Classes are open to the public, however private bookings are available if you want to enjoy the day with just your family.

Relaxation

Visit the Beach

Last but not least, you can’t plan a visit to Kiawah Island in the fall without spending a day or two (or three) at the beach. Whether it’s your first visit to the Island, or you’ve been vacationing here for years, the untouched beauty of Kiawah Island’s beaches and relaxing lifestyle are what keeps you coming back.

Autumn is the perfect time to visit the beach, too. The water is still warm from the heat of summer, and there are less visitors so you and your family have plenty of room to stretch out.

The autumn activities below are exclusive to Kiawah Island Club Members.
