From the moment you arrive at 29 Ocean Course Drive, you are welcomed with luxury and sophistication. Greenery enfolds the dual-sided stairway, reminiscent of the plantation homes that were once found here, leading to the main entrance of the shingle style, three-story abode. The stunning 6-panel etched glass entryway depicting a live oak opens its doors to reveal a spacious 6,200 square foot, 6-bedroom Island retreat. Entering the home, one must remark on the grandeur of the foyer with its 12-foot high ceilings, thick crown molding, marble tile floors and the subtle curvature of the walls.

Bright, natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows welcome you home as you make your way inside. Adjacent to the great room, which overlooks the astonishing view of the Atlantic Ocean and the award-winning Ocean Course, the Carolina Room is the perfect respite from the day’s adventures. The room, which almost appears to be a part of the kitchen, is enclosed within panels of glass and columns, creating the sense of privacy and accessibility at the same time.

The kitchen serves as the central gathering place of the home, open to the great room, the Carolina Room and a casual breakfast area. A large center island, granite countertops, and custom painted cabinets with rope detailing marry function and form together. Make your way to the screened porch off the kitchen, with its professional grill and outdoor kitchen, for an al-fresco dining experience.

The only first-floor room to be closed-in from the open-space floor plan, whether there’s work to be done or you just want to read quietly, the library awaits. Resembling an old English pub room, the library is paneled in Brazilian cherry wood, from the baseboards to the coffered ceilings and cherry-carved lions one each side of the fireplace.

Upstairs, with five guestrooms, there’s a place at 29 Ocean Course Drive for all of your favorite family and friends. Each room includes views of the marsh, forest or ocean. On the second-floor, there’s an additional porch where guests can enjoy fresh air.

The second-floor master suite has vaulted beadboard ceilings, a beautiful fireplace and sitting area. Open the doors to the small, private balcony that overlooks the vanishing pool and impeccable views. A third-floor private loft office looks down upon the master suite. Covered floor to ceiling with imported Turkish toned limestone, the master bath invokes the feeling of an old Roman bathhouse.

The deck features a fire pit, Jacuzzi and gazebo with a built-in counter and bar. The deck surface is Suncrete, keeping it cool on your feet throughout the warm summer months. Because the clear view of the marsh, ocean and golf course are essential, the design of the home called for a vanishing pool.
