Kiawah is near excellent schools, leading-edge medical facilities, and a variety of places of worship
Although the relaxed, healthy lifestyle at Kiawah may make residents feel as if they are on a perpetual vacation, the Island and neighboring areas do provide the necessities for families living here year-round, including excellent schools, hospitals, and places of worship.
Schools
A wide variety of private and public schools provide learning environments geared to individual needs, hopes, and dreams. School options include a revered girls’ school Ashley Hall, Montessori, Catholic, Christian, outstanding preparatory schools (including the widely respected Porter Gaud school, a Hebrew academy, and Charleston Collegiate, along with public elementary, middle, and high schools.)
Universities in the area include the College of Charleston, a public liberal arts and sciences university, and the Medical University of South Carolina, a state university with a medical center and six colleges.
Hospitals
New Lowcountry residents accustomed to having access to leading-edge healthcare find great comfort in Charleston’s commitment to care. The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, and Roper St. Francis Healthcare are just 22 miles from Kiawah. Kiawah Seabrook Medical & Urgent Care is in Freshfields Village and is operated by Roper Hospital.
Places of worship
The first hymnbook printed in America came from a print shop in "The Holy City" of Charleston. Church steeples are still one of the predominate features of the Lowcountry landscape. Residents may find spiritual sustenance in Charleston’s oldest churches, where first services were held back in 1681.
