In the last couple of years, Kiawah’s Cassique neighborhood has experienced success during an otherwise difficult time in the real estate market. In August 2010, KIRE released nine homesites on Tom Watson Lane. This initial release sparked such overwhelming buyer interest that the number of available homesites was increased to 15 to meet demand. Tom Watson Lane completely sold out by the spring of 2011, prompting KIRE’s release of Dennison Lane, a new collection of four homesites located in the heart of the community.

Buyers aren’t just purchasing property on Kiawah; they are actively planning and building their Island homes. “With five new homes under review, this is one of the biggest waves of building activity we have seen in Cassique,” says Amanda Mole, director of the architectural review board. “You can sense the excitement and anticipation the minute you enter the neighborhood.”
With the help of architect Christopher Rose of Christopher Rose Architects on Johns Island, Kim-Marie and Jeffrey Evans are designing a home in this private golf community. “I love everything about Cassique,” says Kim-Marie. “The architecture seems to be a mix of California meets Mediterranean. It has the water sports and tennis that the kids and I love. My husband is a scratch golfer, so he is thrilled with the Tom Watson course. Our two younger boys have inherited their father's love for golf, so they are just as excited. And the neighborhood's proximity to Charleston is a big plus.”
Two more new owners are Lee and Anne Cotton, who recently made the decision to leave their family home in Connecticut for the warmer climate on Kiawah. “Cassique will be our permanent residence,” says Lee. “The beauty of the development and the charm of nearby Charleston drew us in. Plus, everyone we have met here has been so welcoming and friendly.”
The warmer months are quickly approaching and Cassique will soon start its spring bloom as The Kiawah Island Club welcomes Members for a busy social season, including the PGA Championship on Kiawah in August, and the ongoing boost of new homes and new neighbors bringing new life into the community.
