This Saturday, October 20, Kiawah Island Community Association and Freshfields Village are teaming up to help Lowcountry animal rescue organizations with the annual Dogtoberfest Wine Tasting and Pet Expo. Whether a dog owner or not, this is an event that guarantees fun for people of all interests: a Halloween costume for dogs, pet service vendors, a Zumbathon dance fitness event, live music, and libations.
Dogtoberfest will take place from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. on the Freshfields Village Green where pet vendors will be offering the latest products and services, while rescue groups answer questions and showcase adorable pups. Adoption groups will pre-screen potential owners at the event, but there will be no on-site adoptions.
The event's lineup of fun is as follows:
12:30-1:00 p.m. Zumbathon sign-up
1:00-3:00 p.m. Zumbathon ($10 per person)
3:00-3:30 p.m. Costume contest registration
3:00-3:30 p.m. Blessing of the animals (free)
3:30-4:00 p.m. Puppy costume contest (free)
4:00-5:45 p.m. Wine and beer tasting ($15 per person)
5:45-6:00 p.m. Grand prize announcement and presentation
So come show off your adorable dog, snap some cute photos of your pup in her costume, get sassy and let loose with Zumba, and enjoy sipping excellent wine and beer tastings. The event is free and open to the public. Zumbathon tickets can be purchased for $10 per person, and wine tasting tickets, which include a commemorative Dogtoberfest glass, can be purchased for $15 per person. All event profits will be donated to participating animal rescue organizations. Tickets can be purchased at the Kiawah Island Community Association Administrative Office, The Sandcastle Community Center on Kiawah Island, and at the Freshfields Village Guest Services office.
